Your time has come: Portfolio Night 2012
As you surely know, today is the day when the world’s largest and most anticipated creative advertising portfolio review and annual recruiting event, jokingly called “speed-dating for creatives”, Portfolio Night will be held for 10th time, this year in 18 cities all around the world, including Athens, Austin, Budapest, Beijing, Chicago, Dallas, Dublin, Helsinki, Los Angeles, Montreal, Mumbai, New York, Paris, Philadelphia, Sao Paulo, Shanghai, Stockholm and Toronto, and this (above) 30-second animation is the official opening video of the event, created this year by my fellow countrymen at Budapest-based full-service post-production house Umbrella, which is with communication agency Kirowski Isobar also the co-host of the evening in Budapest, to promote the long-awaited event.
Have you been working on your book for months and want to show your ‘Precious’ to your favorite creative director, or just want to get some feedback or good advice? Well, my fellow, the most important mission of the event, founded by Ihaveanidea and headed by the helper of young creatives, executive director of Art Directors Club, Ignacio Oreamuno, and supported in 2012 by global partners Getty Images and Creative Niche, exactly is “to connect the world’s best creative directors with the next wave of aspiring young ad talent in a fast-paced night of networking, book review and advice”! So, if you’re “absolutely, positively sure advertising is for you” and you’re planning to break into the industry (just like me) as copywriter or art director, next time, namely next year (you know, in case if the world doesn’t end in December), don’t forget to book your ticket well in advance to the nearest city to you, because thousands of young creatives are standing in the line to do the same.
Good luck to all the attendees today, may the creativity be with you and don’t worry, most CDs don’t bite, these are your big moments, so, just show off your skills, kick some ass and everything’s going to be alright, get your dream jobs! I truly wish some of them can make their dreams come true, just like I hope it for myself for the nearest future.
